If you're willing to go off the beaten track there's plenty of distinctive women. I wouldn't say <A HREF="http://www.whitehinterland.com/index.php" REL="nofollow">Casey Dienel</A> or <A HREF="http://www.myspace.com/jlmayfield" REL="nofollow">Jessica Lea Mayfield</A> are traditional, Barbie, male-oriented artists. The punk she romanticizes is one that was on the margins. Its successor isn't the stuff with the same sound that's now commercially viable but the newer sounds from struggling artists who haven't caught on yet (and may never catch on).
